Game randomly becomes incredibly laggy until restart

What happens when the bug occurs? The game is incredibly laggy, essentially turning into a slideshow. This happens from start of the match until it ends. Once the match is over I almost always get stuck in returning to lobby and have to alt+f4 the game. Upon restart I often get an error about "reservation timed out" and after closing that error I can connect fine. Most games I experience next to no lag and then suddenly it turns into a complete shitshow. I have tried connecting to different servers but it just seems to randomly occur pretty much every 5-20 games.
What should be happening instead? I should be connecting to a server that does not have insane ping issues and doesn't essentially softlock my game afterwards
