Game crashes on Android OS 7.1.1 or lower after 04/12/2019 update

Yes, it's definitely an issue with the interlink or interoperability between EA's servers and the Google Play servers, so either EA changed something or Google changed something and it broke the link - so now, the game cannot talk to the Google Play Games servers and therefore, you cannot login, except on a guest account by bypassing google play.  Sad.

@CG_MindTricks So far I have missed my bonus energy. Depending on how long it takes for EA to figure out what it broke this time we will see how much more content I miss out on. The apparent lack of testing and continued crashing is disappointing for such a great franchise.

I've been trying to figure out if it was me or the game.  I can't get it to load, it keeps failing at various spots.  It's trash at the moment.

@dutchvander77 @CG_MindTricks I made the same point earlier... guest accounts work fine regardless of android version, I hope they are reading these replies.  Google discontinued an API on Dec 1st, maybe that is where the issue lay: https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2019/03/changes-to-google-play-developer-api.html

@fenith Very likely, though I just tried to play the game in BlueStacks without using google play games and it didn't load - so, it's hard to say definitively if it's Google Play Games services or just some compatibility issue with that specific version of Android.  Since EA did do some kind of server update yesterday, It's very likely internal to EA - but - we can only speculate on this side of the coin lol.

Same here and because of it, was not able to reach 1st place during my PO times (squad and fleet), so lost 900 crystals. Make sure that you compensate them.

same trouble, game crashes every time i try to login. OS says it's up to date, tried clearing the games cache and data. I even Uninstalled and Reinstalled the game. Still nothing and I'm losing out on energy.

Me too! On LG Stylo 7 it is crashing. I am gonna miss out on my daily login rewards and all of my energy! This is so annoying.
