Gale face paint locked after reaching level 50

What should be happening instead? Gale face paint should be unlocked for level 50

Happened right on the "War in the Pacific" launch. Coins for 50+ levels did unlocked fine but not face paint.

Two days later still nothing unlocked even after playing and unlocking other stuff.

Have you played Practice vs players? Play until ranked again. You might be able to trigger unlocks.
I believe this is an issue still worked on, but the recommendation is still to contact EA support. How sadly it sounds sometimes it helps to try again and chat with another customer service employee.
