Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In Franchise Mode, at any point in time propose a trade to an AI controller team for a player with a bad contract, 1 year left on their contract, or request they retain anything over 10% of their players salary; the AI controlled team will reject the offer every single time regardless of what you offer in return.
What happens when the bug occurs? Perfect example of retained salary request, offer 5 first round picks for Jordan Staal, request Carolina retains 50% of Staal’s contract, they will reject the offer because they don’t want to retain salary. Perfect example of offering a player with 1 year remaining to an AI controlled team, offer Connor McDavid to any team and reuqest only a single 7th round pick, the offer will be rejected because McDavid only has 1 year remaining. Finally, try to dump a player with a bad contract to a team with available cap and request a late draft pick or even a player they want rid of, the AI team will reject the offer because of your players bad contract.
What do you expect to see? Trades should be more realistic. The logic and/or algorithms have to be adjusted. otherwise the trade value bar means absolutely nothing. Teams retain salary all of the time, teams take on bad contracts all of the time if they’re receiving picks/prospects or dumping someone they want rid of too. Also, rental players (1 year teaming) are huge piece of NHL trades except for in NHL 18 franchise mode... sad face.
