okay for some reasons nobody here cares about this bug BUT it has finally been fixed with the Discover University patch, white stairs are finally white (not dark grey), and all darker shades aren't pitch black

this is no user-generated issue, as i've been seeing dark stairs in all gameplay / build videos, from gurus and youtubers

@CiTob1899

I'm not sure that's a bug, just the light changes when you close a room with stairs. I'll try and repro, which stairs are they? Could you also take a screenshot of the whole room?

Hello,

When I put (any) stairs inside a building (with a second floor), the stairs darken like a shadow is hovering over it. The stairs are perfect outside a room - total white. EA Help also asked me to share an image with different lights settings; colour and intensity but it was still the same. Even EA Help found it strange. When I remove a wall, exposing the room to outside, the stairs turn normal again.

Here is a folder with many images:

I see what you mean, it's as if the stairwell doesn't recognise light from windows but I placed the Crystal Clear floor window from Island Living and it directs light properly. It's always been like this though I think, do you think it's a new issue?

That must be the issue! That’s so strange. Thanks for taking your time to do this. This is upsetting me dearly and it would be amazing if EA could fix this. At least I’m not the only one with this new ‘bug’?

You're welcome Standard smile I'm going to move this back to the bug forum and hope that a Windows user could test for us. This will determine whether it's Mac specific or affects all.

@CiTob1899  and @Bluebellflora , I'm a Windows user and this has always happened with my stairwells in the game.  I checked it again to see if it was still the case, and it still occurred.Raised eyebrow  I think this is by design, but I could be wrong. Wink
