Thank you! Wish I had found that thread sooner rather than making this one. I just posted about my issue in it since, along with the audio issue, I also have my game freezing upon closing it.

Hello,
So, I've had this issue for a while now, what happens Is:
1. I open the Sims 4 game
2. I put my PC into sleep mode for just a second
3. When I then turn it back on and come back to the game, my in game sound is gone and the only way to get it back is restarting my Computer.
I've already tried some troubleshooting steps that unfortunately didn't help
1. Reinstalling the game
2. Repairing the game
3. Regenerating a new user-folder
4. Rebooting my PC on save mode
If anyone has any more Ideas of things I can try, please let my know!

I am having similar issue. although i do not use headphones or anything whenever my computer falls asleep or the monitor auto turns off, the game comes back on with no sound.. i used to be able to just minimize the game and open it back up and it would be fine. but now i have to save and close the game. also a lot of the time when i save and close the game it locks up and i have to force close the game. super frustrating.

I'm also having this issue. I used to be able to minimize the game with the Windows-key and then come back to the game no issues, or when the screensaver kicked in, not a worry. But now the game doesn't have any sound anymore, and it also crashes often when I am quitting the game. Even task manager can't be opened since the Sims keeps 'opening' or whatever you want to call it, so I have to force shut down my PC with all my other programs open as well. It's getting really annoying.

Hi, I think I have a similar issue? If I unplug my headphones (they are not wireless) the game sound dies until i restart the game. It bothers me a lot because I tend to accidentally unplug them. Never had any crashing of the computer though... yet. Only the headphones issue. I think it started after i switched to Windows 11? but that might just be a coincidence. The Sims is also the only app where that happens, and if I like, open YouTube after my sound died in the sims, it will work on YT.
