Your MBP should easily handle the game so that's not an issue. Is there any reason why you're still running Yosemite though? Do you have any Mods installed which affect skill level, or in the past had any installed? Have you repaired the game?

@Bluebellflora Installing new operating systems has sometimes caused a few problems in the past, as well as affected certain programs and games. Therefore I'm a little bit wary and often stick with the old ones instead. 😅
I've only very recently started to use some mods, but encountered the issue pretty early on, so I don't think this is the cause. I also delete the cache files and repair my game on a regular basis.

Ah, ok.

I'm going to load my game up and see if I can replicate the issue. Does it still happen if you move out the whole Sims 4 folder from Documents > Electronic Arts onto your desktop and then play a new, clean game?

Thus far the skill bars seem to be working smoothly, but it's early days yet. Fingers crossed.

Yup, I can confirm that since installing the recent patch and Cats and Dogs, I have no longer been having this problem.
