Speaking of handiness, have your Sims ever tried repairing their shower-tub combos or bathtubs, but kinda not been able to get to them? That should be resolved, and we also fixed this same error when Sims tried to perform the Water Recycler and add H20 Siphoner upgrades.

Fixed in Patch 1.82.99/1.50

If you're still experiencing this issue, please create a new thread.

Route fail when trying to repair bathtubs with showers

★ Apprentice

I got the Cottage Living pack, did a game repair through Origin and then started a new playthrough with a brand new Sims 4 folder (removed my old one, let the game generate a new one).

I made new Sims and moved them into 5 Cobblebottom Street in Henford on Bagley. I bought a Under the Sea Clawfoot Tub with Shower (to replace the bath as they take too long, but I like having both options). When it breaks and I direct my Sim to repair it, they get a route failure.

My Sims all have no issues using the tub, there's only a route fail when it breaks.

Even moving the tub outside where there is no possibility of a route fail under normal circumstances my Sim still complains it can't get to the tub (the bathroom was not decorated with moveobjects on, so there wouldn't have been anything in the way but I decided to try this).

This is really annoying as I have upgrades applied to it and my only solution is to delete it and buy a new one.

Re: Route fail when trying to repair bathtubs with showers

@Bluelfears  Did you upgrade the shower/tub to be unbreakable?  There are a couple bug reports for this issue, one for objects that are supposed to be unbreakable and one for breakable objects:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Unbreakable-Object-breaks-no-repair-Patch-1-59-73-Edition...

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-Breakable-Objects-can-t-be-repaired/td-p/9857619

Let me know which is the case for you, and if it's the second one, it would be great if you could share your save as requested in the bug thread.

Hi,

It's not that the repair action never completes, it can't even start because my Sim will complain that they can't get to the tub. My Sim could not apply the Unbreakable upgrade before this occurred due to lack of parts.

Also the two sinks and one toilet on the lot have all broken previously and were repaired with no issue. Therefore the problem is only present on the Under the Sea Clawfoot tub with shower.

@Bluelfears  Alright, I'm going to ask if there's an existing bug report that includes precisely your issue, or if you should make a new one.  Or, if you'd prefer, you can make a bug report anyway, and it'll be merged if appropriate.

Edit:  I merged with another report for the same issue.

Same problem.

Only started after 1.77.131 patch.

ALL tubs can't be upgraded. Tried it on a clean install, wiped cache, no mods, new game, no CC.

A brand-new bathtub, not upgraded at all. Try to upgrade it and the sim gives the Routing Failure gesture like they can't get there.

Tried it with over a half-dozen vanilla tubs. ALL fail. Tried placing the tub in the center of a large room. Still gets routing failure.

Me too! I actually only realized it because the bathtub had broken and my character called maintenance. When the maintenance specialist arrived on the lot, he didn't move to fix the bathtub. So I put my character to try to repair it and saw that she couldn't do it either. I thought it was something in the way, I deleted everything in the bathroom and left only the bathtub broken...and still they can't repair it.

I have two shower/bath combos in my house and cannot repair either of them. I'm also getting the route failure message. I've triple-checked they can get to them and there are no obstructions. I called a repair person but they didn't do anything. Just stood there. I'm usually good at troubleshooting so I feel like this is a bug. I've not had this issue before. I have all packs installed except for Bust a Dust, Home Decorator and Cottage Living. I do have some mods installed - namely furnishings (sofas/bed/wardrobe).

@imagebear_tommy Thanks for the new thread

For everyone experiencing this, there's a separate thread for the eco upgrades: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/ECO-Sims-Can-t-Upgrade-Water-Recycler-on-Tubs-or-Tub-Shower/td...

If you have issues with non-issue upgrades causing routing failures as well, please repair your game and delete localthumbcache file and if it still doesn't work, make yet another separate thread.

There's also an older thread for the upgrades not working if you use eco parts: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INPUT-ECO-Can-t-upgrade-Hot-Tub-Water-Recycler-using-eco...

I took a picture of my character trying to repair the bathtub signaling that it is blocked...even though I removed everything from the bathroom leaving only the bathtub.26-07-21_21-17-12.png26-07-21_21-17-34.png
