Can't give gifts to other sims when there is a painting in the inventory

@piperjj Do you have a painting in your inventory or is it possible that other items can cause this too ?

Do you have any LastException files in your documents folder ?

Best is to delete the ones you have, then trigger the error and check if new ones are created.

Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Uploading the file is meant for troubleshooting.

There's currently a few issues going on with giving food.

I did have paintings, successfully gifted friendly gifts. No exceptions

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Click on another sim in your houshold, choose 'Friendly', 'Affection', 'Give gift' and 'Friendly gift...'. Or click 'Romantic', Affection', 'Give gift' and 'Romantic gift...'
What happens when the bug occurs? I click on a sim, choose to give a gift and then nothing happens. The list of possible gift choices does not appear and there is no gift giving.
What do you expect to see? I expect the menue of inventory to pop up, where you can choose what to gift. Then the sim should gift the item of choice to the other sim.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. It started after the update I made a few days ago. Then it was just affecting one sim. I installed a new update that was avaliable today (March 2nd 2024) and now it is affecting all of my sims.

This bug affects all types of gift giving between sims in my household (three sims), including seasonal/holiday gifts. It does not affect gift giving to animals.

@crinrict , I just tested and successfully gifted a romantic gift without paintings in the inventory.

@Annfallet  I have the same problem, but only with 3 of 46 sims.

I slowly emptied the inventory of one of the afflicted sims and found out that it occurs when the gift-giving sim has spoiled food in their inventory.

After installing Crystal Creations and the 2/28 patch, my sim who has made gems can no longer gift other items.  Sims who have not made gems are ok giving gifts.  The only gift options for the gem maker are gems and simoleons.
