[OPEN] Resume Writing starts over after travelling [ Edited ]

My sim has the author aspiration, and it's getting really tiring. If he ever stops writing, even if it's just a short action in between, he'll have to restart. I noticed that if I have tried to finish a book during a long time, and then scraps the book, it will count as written but there won't be a copy of the book anywhere. Very annoying.

EDIT: I'm not sure what it is that will make it restart. Now he had dinner and then went back to the computer, and this time it wasn't bugged. So maybe it just bugs out when he leaves the house or when a significant time has passed.

To me I always have to start over if a loading screen is involved.

I also seem to have this same problem with the composing your own mix tape on the DJ skill. Traveling resets his progress on his mix tape.

The DJ tapes work the same way writing music does. You should find the started tape in your inventory. Continue from there

No, I checked my inventory to continue I mean and it was unfinished but I noticed something else weird, it duplicated itself and one of them has progress and one of them doesn't. I only ever started it once and they sound identical.

Usually if you choose the interaction again on the DJ Booth, another tape is created in your inventory. So maybe you hit it by accident ?

I would just continue and if it happens again, open a new thread.

I am having the same problem, but not only will the writing progress start over if my sim takes a long break, but it seems to take longer to write a book in general. Before I could have my sim write 2 or 3 books in a day. Now it takes my sim all day to write one book. I was under the impression that it takes a sim about 4 sim hours to write one book, but if my sim starts writing at 8 am, he/she won't get done until 3 or 4pm if I'm lucky and if I don't interrupt them to handle their other needs. That usually never happens cause by noon he/she needs to pee or is hungry. It's pretty annoying. I usually don't have my sim leave the lot until she's done writing so I haven't experienced losing progress after a load screen, but she will definitely have to start over if she leaves the computer for a long period of time. Sometimes I can get away with bathroom breaks, but that's about it. I don't know what patch broke this, but I hope they fix it soon. I'm always playing with writers and this glitch just takes the fun out of it.

It depends on the kind of book you write. Not all books take the same amount of time.

Interrupting the process won't reset it, just traveling to another lot.

I also have this problem. I do know that it has not always been like this. I don't remeber if it happened before I got GTW or one of the patches before that. Very annoying, and to the point wheree I cannot complete the author aspiration.

Are the QA team aware of this bug? I'm not sure whether I should tag them.

This has been in the game since GT and is really killing those writer sims.
