After Discover University Patch Books Not Counting For Knowledge Aspirations

I started having this issue after installing RoM.  It happened with both occult and non-occult Sims, so the Knowledge is Magic perk can't have been the entire issue.  Plus, now that I have University installed, my 100% mortal Sim isn't getting credit for books under any perk or aspiration.  I'm also having issues with getting whim credits for reading, writing, and publishing books.  None of these issues existed for me prior to installing RoM.  

To test, I started a new game with a randomly created non-occult Sim with the Renaissance aspiration.  I don't know what else to try other than to attempt to uninstall packs created from RoM and after.  I'd rather not have to do all that since I use the game to destress from an 80 hour work week and I just want to decompress with my Sims... not work for them.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Playing the game normally.
What happens when the bug occurs? Well, nothing happens and that is the issue.
What do you expect to see? Reading a book does not complete the requirements of the renaissance sim milestone (or other similar milestones).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

My sims will read several various books of different types to completion in order to attempt to complete this milestone and it never gets completed. Almost every time, I have to cheat in order to get past it. It is extremely frustrating as it is one of my favorite aspirations!

Also, no. They aren't usually spellcasters. It is all of my sims, spellcasters or not.

@morghan0513Same here. I recently bought Discover University and Realm of Magic as part of a bundle. Now I can't get books to register for the Renaissance Sim - Prudent Student aspiration. I haven't tried out any of the Realm of Magic stuff yet.

I have 1 sim, Josh, who can not get books to register. I tried 3 other sims, but they can get books to register. None of the 4 have any magic perks, skills or the likes.

Josh has a lot of other traits that the 3 others don't have. The full list is: Genius, Bookworm, Good, Higher Education, Good Manners, Antiseptic, Responsible, Happy Toddler, Compassionate, Mediator, Mentally Gifted, Steel Bladder, Incredibly Friendly, and Quick Learner.

Of those traits, one of the other sims who could read books for the aspiration also had Happy Toddler, Mediator and Responsible.

I'm having the same issue but I found it is only happening to magical Sims and not muggles. I tried with a newly created sim and she is gaining aspiration credit for reading books. I had one of my magical sims ask for a Rite of Dissolution and after that she was getting credit for reading books as well.

I have had this issue with a few different sims, both magical and non magical (and I know about the issue with the ROM perk so make sure not to get that for my magic sims until after my sim has read their three books  ).  

After looking into it, I think it may be tied to the research and debate skill since I think that's what my sims that couldn't get this to count had in common.  So I tested it by having a new sim who did not have the R&D skill read three books and they all counted fine. I had the second sim read two books with the second book being the research and debate skill book. The first two books counted, including the research and debate skill book, but after my sim reached level 2 of the research and debate skill the subsequent books didn't count and the ability you get for reaching level 2 is the ability to finish reading books in less time.

 

In the past I've noticed that if my sims have quick learning traits combined with lot traits that make skills easier to gain, some skill books wouldn't count because the sim seemed to get through it too quickly. But this time my sims seem to reach a block and even books that would have counted in the past under the past scenario don't seem to count anymore (for example the flower arranging book is one that I found always counted as one book didn't count this time). I'm curious if those who are experiencing this issue have sims with the R&D skill?
