@YaanikaWell, the last update was on 7/23 and I have that. I've done plays since then without them reverting so I doubt it's that. I have a bunch of mods released so I have to stay current on patches.
It's odd, I've played for three sim days since and haven't tried to fix them. I want to see if they re-grow and it doesn't look like its gonna happen. They're still dirt piles. It's like since they were done "growing", they stopped growing but the change in growth stage back to planted makes them stuck there.
They are getting weeds though. Plants in the "Planted" stage don't get weeds. They don't get harvestables either. It's like their growth stage only has been reset to "Planted" when they should be "Blossoming".
They do need watering and weeding. Haven't seen any "Spray for bugs" yet.
I'll give them another few days to see if anything changes and then cheat a few of them back to "Blossoming" and see how they act.
EDIT: My sim IS in a new career I made (that I haven't released) called the "Porn Star" career. It requires Fitness to increase career levels. My sim has been working on their fitness quite a bit...

Just for INFO sake:
Reverted:
Basil, Spinach, Tomato, Potato, Tulip, Lily, Rose, Strawberry, and Death Flower.
Not Reverted:
Mushroom, Parsley, Carrot, Onion
All plants are either "Nice" or "Excellent", some of each, reverted and not reverted.
FYI... My reverted "Tomato" plant just reached the "Evolve" stage (it has the DNA symbol on the hover info) but I can't evolve it.

@YaanikaCheated the Tomato and Spinach growth stages back to Blossoming. They're back to normal and Tomato can evolve now.
EDIT: Interesting, the Tomato and Spinach plants immediately needed spraying for bugs. All needed watering, a few weeding. Bug reverted plants need watering and weeding but not Spraying?
I'm gonna remove the lot traits, cheat most back to Blossoming and see how they act.
EDIT 2: Cheated all but 2 back to Blossoming. Removed lot traits. No further reversions. 1 day later, remaining 2 plants went directly back to "Blossoming" on their own. All plants back to normal.
EDIT 3: 1 Day later, while watering and weeding, 6 of the planted again reverted back to dirt piles. So, it's not the lot traits. First set of reversions was not while tending the plants, this time it was. Not sure what's causing it.

@PsychotpsIt's coincidental that you finally encountered the same reversion bug as I did in Oasis Springs, because that's where my affected Households are located. I've also used the same Lot Trait as you on at least one of my Lots, so that's two commonalities. My game doesn't feature Seasons or Eco Lifestyle though, so those are differences. I hope those factors, as well as the hopes of myself and Yaanika will be helpful you in your efforts, as right now you're the only person who seems capable enough to fix this bug.

I've been having this issue for a bit on my save file. I cheat the plants everytime they revert stages but it happens again, every single time for a lot ot the plants (the ones to revert tend to change for each time). Sage and Basil are the only ones to change into a "harvestable" state in which they look as they're not even planted but the possible interactions with then are those of a planted plant. My garden has almost every time of plant in game (no Vampires, catnip or Outdoor Retreat plants and I think I'm missing some from Jungle Adventure). I do not own Eco Lifestyle, Realm of Magic and Strangerville. I haven't had any issues with the evolving stages so far. I'm commenting so if you manage to find a fix I'll know, thank you for trying to fix it! Hope EA actually works on this for a patch, my legacy family lives on a farm and the garden is very important.

@NeutrobyteWell, the thing is, they can't just "leave well enough alone". Every new item they add gets integrated. Think about it... Island Living? That one added coconuts, pineapples, kava, Realm of Magic? Mandrake, Valerian, What about the RoM spells? There are at least two that help with gardening, those are integrated systems, Science Career, Salvadora, City Living, Outdoor Retreat added a TON of new stuff.
Those are just the new plants. What about everything else? The new planters? ECO added at least 3 or 4. Tiny Living added the Tiny lot traits that helps with Gardening. Patchy? Gardening Clubs? Seasons adds a whole series of new stuff with gardening, new plants and how they grow.
If they never added these things, we'd be left with what... a few dozen plants? No gardening spells, no gardening clubs.
I'm glad all these things are in there. I'm just disappointed it's apparently gotten out of their hands and grown beyond their control to manage.
EDIT: Fyi... I uploaded my entire house to my library and placed it in another town on the same save. Brindleton Bay. I've been playing there a lot lately and several plays have not had the bug happen. Moved my current sim there and it still happened. Took a new sim and moved them into the old house with the existing plants and within a week, middle of summer, 8 of the plants reverted on their own. Two more reverted while watering.
EDIT2: I have a theory about what's causing it. Need to make a mod to test. If it pans out, I'll know exactly what's happening but not what's causing it.
