Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What is your current game version number? 1.76.81.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All Packs Except Dream Home
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I've been gardening for about 2 weeks in game and have about 50 plants, all regressed to dirt piles instantly about 9am on a Thrursday morning.
What happens when the bug occurs? All my plants, flowers, trees regressed to dirt piles.
What do you expect to see? All my plants , flowers and trees to NOT regress to dirt piles.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No
I've been testing gadening after the new patch, I started a new save off with mod functionality completely turned off, I refreshed my Sims 4 folder by deleteing it and letting the game rebuild the folder, and have no mods in the mods folder.
I was using a new save file from after the patch for about a week in game then moved save file to another new one, moved the lot and Sim from the first one to the second.
After 5 days of playing that second save file one morning at about 9.00, everything in the garden regressed to a dirt pile at the same time, no warning. I had not harvested or interacted with the garden that day in any way but was about to.
I had saved less than an hour before it happened and have just "saved as" right after it so have a before and after save if required.
As I was testing the gardening I had set the garden up with 4 lots of the same plants, one lot of planter and soil plants planted under cover and the same in the open air. So I had say;
4 different Mushroom plants, one in a planter sheltered, one in soil sheltered, one in the open in a planter and one in the open in soil.
and as I said the same for lots of different plants, all from different seasons, all from seed packets bought in Build Buy mode except for a couple harvested from wild.
The only thing that I did right beforeit happened was in the night time just before the morning it happened was change the lot type from residental to Micro Home.

I had travelled the day before maybe, but had slept the night on the lot and had got up and qued up weeding and watering as I noticed that quite a few plants needed it, but before my Sim was up and had a chance to tend to the requests the whole lot of the in season and covered plants just reverted! BUT the Sim still did all of the qued actions even though none of the plants remained.
I'll be going back in to the game shortly so I'll have a quick play with the before save and see what happens.

Editing to add: I planted a group of nine plants outside, in season, on Monday. No fertilizer. By Friday, three of the plants had reverted to dirt piles--one on Wednesday morning and two more on Friday. I am going to try regenerating my Sims folder and see what happens. My current lot is The Shipping Views in Evergreen Harbor.
Edit/Update 2: I generated a new game folder and a completely new game. I thought all was well, and then one week in, all of my unsheltered, in-season plants reverted: Catnip et al, lemon, tomato, sage, chrysanthemum, garlic. One sheltered plant was affected: valerian. I planted and cared for the plants, never fertilized, and the tomatoes were evolved once. My Sim is still able to spray for bugs on recently reverted plants.

I've been playing in the before save and everything seems fine now! I've only played 9 days, I did a week without travelling and travelled on the 8th day, still no change, I've been able to do all the normal gadening tasks with no problem.
When I checked in the after save just before I quit for the night I noticed that the wild plants around the lot it happened on have not regressed to dirt piles!

Sorry, might have missed a couple of plants in my list; I used the growth stage cheat to fix them before I saw the template here. I tried reloading my last save before the reset (only lost about 25 min real time) but the plants didn't reset the next time through.
