Having a similar issue, only I noticed that when this happens, the infant often has an action queued, Sleep with Pet.  It seems that the parents are wanting to take the infant OUT of bed so they can sleep on the floor with the cat/dog.  It got so bad once I locked the parents out of their baby's room.

I believe I have discovered the ultimate workaround:

DELETE YOUR CRIBS.

let infant sleep in a pile of horse manure: WELL CARED FOR VERY HAPPY FALL ASLEEP IMMEDIATELY

put infant in upgraded crib: CRY CRY GET PICKED UP AND PUT DOWN 200 TIMES CRY GET TAKEN OUT OF CRIB AND PUT BACK IN IN REPEATING LOOP FOR ALL ETERNITY ENERGY IS DEEPLY RED FOREVER

Seriously, only using the crib as a last resort and otherwise just leaving your infant sleeping on the dirty floor works much better. Also, pause and immediately queue up tasks for every adult in the household if you do use the crib, and lock them out of the nursery if necessary.

(Delete your high chair, too. I still have PTSD from the high chair with toddlers.)

I've also been having this problem. My sim puts the infant in the crib and then autonomously takes it out again unless I manage to queue up another interaction first. Looks like this  is same issue reported here, although I don't think it's mod related: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-and-Mod-CC-Issues/Struggling-to-put-infant-in-crib/td-p/12389370/high...

In general, interacting with infants is glitchy. Sims will autonomously undo the previous action concerning an infant (e.g., taking it out of the high chair right after putting them in it) unless you queue up something else first. They will also often refuse to pick up the infant (interaction disappears from queue or they act like something is blocking the way when there's nothing there). And they're constantly dropping queued actions in order to "check infant."

Does anyone know how to fix my game?

sims will put infants in their crib but instead of going to do something else I’ve asked them to do they’ll pick them back up and put them on the floor and then enter an endless loop and then eventually pass out from exhaustion and the baby just screams the whole time. I’m losing my mind.

I’ve had this issue since the update with infants it happens probably 75% of my infant gameplay.

@Motherbear88 that sounds like the same issue reported here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-Parents-keep-taking-infants-out-of-crib-for-no/td-...

It does have a response from the Sims Direct so hopefully it will be addressed at some point.

I made the mistake of trying to put an infant into a crib last night. How did that go?

I threatened to delete the infant and murder all the adult caregivers. Finally I locked the door to everyone in hopes that they would allow the infant to sleep.

Every member of the household stood in front of the nursery door and pathing waved, including the cat… which is nightmare fuel tbh.

Also the infant didn’t sleep. There was no “try to go night night” option, so her energy went deeper and deeper into the red while she screamed and cried.

Finally, I woke her mother and made her bake a cake. The vile little beast got Top Notch Infant. 🤦‍♀️

I should have followed my own advice and deleted my crib.

I think maybe part of the problem is the way a lot of actions are actually groups of actions? Combined with the priority they’ve given “check infant” allowing it to cancel even interactions with the infant.

For example - “bottle feed” breaks into 3 actions: pick up, cuddle, feed. And “put to sleep” on the crib is actually talk, pick up, put in crib, soothe to sleep.

But when check infant gets too… enthusiastic… (which is more common when the infant has a low need) it will interrupt and cancel the queue. So if your infant is hungry, you’ll tell your Sim to bottle feed. This will go into the queue, then turn into the first action, pick up. But then along comes Check Infant which goes oh no! The kid is Hungry! Cancel everything and feed them! So it cancels the pick up to replace with feed. So the Sim puts the kid down (due to pick up canceling) then queues feed. Which then turns into feed’s first step, pick up. Rinse and repeat…

If someone can link me directions on how to share a save I'll gladly do it because this issue is ridiculous.
