Split from household bug

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to move someone into a household
What happens when the bug occurs? You try to move a sim into a household and you get stuck on the menu. You can’t continue with the move or cancel the move. I lost 5-6 hours of game play because I had to re start the game in order for me to continue. A few of my fellow sims players have had this issue and as a result have lost game play time too.
What do you expect to see? The split from household and move menu where you get stuck.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? "Ask to Join Household" with an NPC who is not in world, which brings up the Join/Split Window. Put the NPC into the household and press the checkmark.
What happens when the bug occurs?  The Join/Split Window Freezes. The rest of the game (unplayable) still operates (you can zoom in and out) and you can Exit the game using keystrokes. I Saved and Exited and it was as though I never asked the sim to join the household. (attached screenshot)
What do you expect to see? The NPC joins the household and I am able to continue playing.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Not that I'm aware of.

A few additional notes - I tried saving and exiting the game 3 times, no difference. It happens every time. I also realize there may be a workaround for this (that is - I can probably go to the Manage Neighborhoods and combine them manually that way). I haven't actually tried that so I don't know. Either way, this is not functional as it is.

I am also having this issue on PC. My sims can’t finish the marriage because I have to ctrl alt delete to get out of the screen.

Since last patch my game freezes every time I try to add to household. Like when sims get married...can't add my spouse to household because the game freezes each time I go into the add screen.

Obviously they need to fix it, but the workaround is to merge the households first from Manage Worlds. I tried it and it worked that way for me - albeit it's a lot more annoying.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a sim get married and try to have the new spouse join household.
What happens when the bug occurs? I cannot confirm nor cancel the move. The screen will just stay on the join household box.
What do you expect to see? The new spouse should join the household and gameplay continue.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes

Whenever my sim gets married, the system asks if I want to join households. When I click yes, the join household box comes up but I cannot confirm the change. The check mark stays gray and I cannot exit

Add your me-too there, and check the thread for possible workarounds - I know one person suggested merging the households from Manage Worlds.

This happened to me two twice. Once when he asked to join household. And once when I went to manage world to merge households and neither worked. It attempts to you get to the point of transferring sim and money, but then it freezes and I couldn't get out of it. I had to force quit the game, I was giving the choice to save , so I did. when I went back in it saved right to the point before he asked to join household. I'm also having issues with gardening, for a while now my sims can't weed their plants. But you still have to try with every  one because some plants you can and others you can't. and just before I came here my sim can't evolve the plants even thow they are sparkling.

This happened to me too, twice. First time he asked my sim to join household, and second time I went to manage worlds and tried that way and it still didn't work. and the third time I moved him to an empty lot ( he was a npc ) And merged the two households, him to her and it worked.

@MysticGlamazon Try moving the npc to an empty lot, it worked for me.
