I'm using vanilla game (no expansions) with the latest patch.

@crinrict I don't have experience with mods, but I know sometimes mods mess with the game. Installing this freelance career fix, won't it cause trouble in the game?? Will there be a patch for this problem, I rather not use mods.

I briefly tried this mod and haven't encountered any issues so far. At least I can confirm that it works: I just got my "stuck" freelance job completed.

If you tired of waiting for the patch, you can backup your saved games and give this mod a try.

Happened, and is still happening, with the acting career (if that helps any with troubleshooting) and is happening now (again/still) with Freelancer. Can't go into CAS, can't "travel" off the lot. It's impossible for Photography Freelancing because you have to go into CAS to dress your models.

I found out if you download this mod that someone made to correct this is work now.
