Since installing the new update and the Growing Together DLC, whenever my sims pick up trash they go to the chicken coop and throw away any hatchable eggs incubating in the coops as well. No mods or CC

This has actually been a bug since around werewolves, I think. Maybe earlier.

Oh, thanks! I guess I haven't done any chicken raising since then!

I reported this in August. I discovered that eggs won't spoil if my Sim (or anyone in the household) went traveling (anywhere, doesn't matter, by using the "travel" option) and comes back home. The hatchable eggs in the coop will hatch. To keep your Sim from traveling all the time you can keep the hatchable eggs in the fridge or in the SIm's inventory and put them back in the coop after traveling.

I just started playing with chickens for the first time - they're adorable, but I'm having the same issue! My Sim keeps throwing away the incubating eggs because they're spoiled!
It's honestly so disappointing to come back to this game and find that bugs like this (especially the resetting plant bug) are still not fixed, despite existing for years, in some cases.

@SkartoArgento I'm also disappointed and frustrated. I've found a somewhat workable solution for this issue, but it's time consuming and it should work without workarounds anyway. Especially since collecting eggs and raising chickens is an essential feature of the add on. I know it's on the list of known bugs, but it's been there for quite a while now.

I'm on Xbox and its also been happening to me. I've tried drag and drop, and also tried pressing "Incubate in coop" in my sims inventory. every single time they just spoil. This has been happening for months now.

This is happening to me as well. Hen lays egg. Egg stays in coop to incubate. Egg always spoils before it can incubate. I've watched my Sims throw the egg out a) when you run the "Clean Coop" interaction and B) anytime they start cleaning up dirty dishes or garbage anywhere on the lot. To them the item is "spoiled" so they actively seek it out to throw it away. The time it takes a "hatchable" egg needs to be different than the unhatchable eggs that go in the fridge. The hatchable eggs simply need to have a spoil time that exceeds the incubation time. Frankly, even if you can get the egg to hatch into a chick, the chick gets stuck as a chick and rarely ages up to a chicken. You can't even cheat it. There is a separate ticket open for that bug. I've completely given up on the entire hatching and raising chickens process at this point.

I have this too. PC user. NoMods.

I am having a spoiling issue as well. Chicken laid the hatchable egg, one was incubating it, but then night came and now the chicken isn't on it, and it's spoiled.
