1st level objects hidden when viewing above from 2nd level in penthouses.

On a penthouse lot, if the 2nd floor is open to the 1st floor below (as in the floor is removed), objects from the 1st floor will be hidden when looking down from the 2nd level. This is extremely frustrating when trying to create an open floor plan. 

I've removed all my CC and mods and started a new game, the bug still exists. Why does this happen? Is there a way to prevent this?

Screenshot # 1 shows when viewing on 1st level: the door, chair, and plant are visible.

Screenshot # 2 shows when I go one level up (viewing from 2nd level): door, chair, and plant disappear but their shadows remain.

Yes, the bug has been around for SEVEN months. And they can't even send a reply on Twitter.

Apparently the problem was corrected with the patch released today. I'm still downloading, so I have not checked the game yet.

Building pieces in apartments will no longer be invisible when viewing from the upper floor. That must have been very disconcerting to not know what happened to your stuff.

Having this issue in a residential lot in brindleton bay... can’t see furniture and part of stairs on lower level when viewing from upper level.
