Autonomous Mean Interactions - 2024 [ Edited ]

I also have this bug in my game. I am wondering if it has something to do with the Mean Streak teen phase. My sim had this phase as a teen and it never went away while he was a teen even after a really long time, so he aged up to young adult while the trait was active. It no longer displays the mean streak trait in his traits panel but he acts as though he still has it.

I have two save files I can upload - one of the affected sim as a teenager and the other of him as a young adult experiencing the bug. Who should I DM the OneDrive link to? Sorry I couldn't find who to send it to and I'd rather not just upload it in a comment.

There are no mods (and there have never been mods) used in the save files.

Edit to add: I am on the latest PC version.

I think it depends on the fact that sentiments, once they disappear (when the red icon disappears from the sim's information panel), actually still remain in the code for much longer. So one is bound to believe that the aversive sentiment has disappeared, when it has not.

I reallllllly hope this gets solved, it drives me crazy. I try to block the interaction as soon as it comes up but I can't always be on time to stop it. 😫

I think that's 100% correct. I would bet that it is the sentiments causing issues long after they've gone away.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Sims that are in a good mood and have a great relationship will out of the blue yell at their significant other or shout forbidden words at each other or perform other mean interactions for seemingly no reason.
What happens when the bug occurs? Relationship bars go down, sometimes negative sentiments are earned. Usually a smooth apology fixes it.
What do you expect to see? For sims with high relationships, no negative sentiments, in a good mood, and having a good conversation to not randomly start being mean to each other.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This has happened multiple times over the last two days. My sims will be having a conversation, be in a good mood like Confident or Inspired, and then randomly start yelling at the other. They don't have traits that would cause this like evil or erratic or mean. They have good sentiments, no negative sentiments, and full relationship bars with each other. Yet they'll start swearing at the other. So far, it's been my male sims yelling at his wife or his mom (two different sims to be clear, father and son being mean to the same female sim). Not sure if that's a coincidence or if I just haven't caught female sims displaying autonomous mean interactions. 

This same thing happened about a year ago and it seems like the autonomous mean bug is back. So whatever you did last time to fix it, can you do it again? I don't like seeing my happy families turn into verbally abusive homes, and I don't want to babysit every interaction.

@laheehamzi1221 That was my problem too! The husband cheated on his wife, she divorced him. He won her back but every so often she insults him just out of the clear blue. It is funny but like I said it gets so annoying. Both negative sentiments are gone and have been since they were remarried and he now has the loyal trait too since his remarriage to his wife.

I'm having these issues too. It seems like these have been happening on and off for people for actual years, but it only began for me the past week or two. I can't recall but it may have been set off by the last update (as of today, 6/1/24, which would be the 5/28/24 update). I don't know why that update would set off these issues for me, but much like with most bugs in this game, I'm left grasping at straws to try & figure out why they happen.

I don't have any negative sentiments between the Sims this happens with, I have autonomy off for played Sim in a 1 sim household, and there are no negative sentiments - there's even positive family dynamics but it still happens. Some had negative sentiments in the past (not all, only a few instances) which makes me wonder if the poster talking about the effects of negative sentiments lingering long past their expiration might be on to something.

I’m on PC and this isn’t fixed for me either. It was for a while but suddenly, I started having issues with it again.

For those with older saves (since I don’t think it’s an active issue anymore): check your unplayed sims for the “Fear of unfulfilled dreams”. Back when this fear was first introduced and spreading like the plague, it seems to have infected unplayed sims as well, causing them to be incredibly moody. My save is several years old and whenever I look at unplayed sims that were teens or older during the time that this fear was running rampant, they always have the fear and I have to remove it. I’m on console btw.

That said, I also have played sims with no fears, negative sentiments, or negative traits who randomly insult their family members out of the blue (with good relationships, not in a bad mood). It seems to be certain sims who do this a lot, not a global issue, so it must be tied to an attribute for that sim.
