[ECO] [CoL] Freegan cooking on Simple Living lot creates 'Unnecessary Spending'

[ Edited ]
★★★ Guide

Product: The Sims 4
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number?
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion, game, and stuff packs except Horse Ranch. Some number of kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create a Freegan Sim and place them on a Simple Living lot. Get some ingredients. Cook something with those ingredients.
What happens when the bug occurs? Freegan gets the "Unnecessary Spending" moodlet after cooking, even though no Simoleans were spent.
What do you expect to see? No embarrassed moodlet if a Freegan doesn't spend anything to cook.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Freegan + Off-the-grid + Simple Living seems like a match made in heaven, but these three things don't work as well together as one might expect. I probably came across these issues not long after Cottage Living came out, but I can't be sure, and I haven't done a Freegan in a while.

When I started this character I tried just OTG but I came across this issue. I don't know if it's a bug or not, but the post I found was in the General/Feedback forum. I enabled Simple Living and found that I could indeed use my eggs when making eggs and toast that way (assuming I also had bread), but then realized my Sim was getting the Unnecessary Spending moodlet when I did so.

  • Issue also occurs when cooking with power
  • Removed mods and localthumbcache file then tested in a new save with a freshly-created Sim.
  • Issue does not occur when cooking one of the special OTG recipes, just when I'm cooking a normal recipe with all ingredients on hand.
