Difficulty changing to custom race difficulty, whilst in career mode

Something that has been happening since launch is that When I go into custom race, and then go into career, the custom race difficulty will override what the career difficulty is. Even if i reset the career race and set it to for example legend difficulty, it will say legend in the pre-race menu, but when the race starts the options say what the custom race difficulty was, and the ai will be that difficulty too.
This bug is annoying and will require the reset of the game to fix, I have seen many players unaware that this bug is even happening and just think the game's difficulty is inconsistent and is ruining their gameplay experience.
