Can’t select anything on franchise screen

After selecting franchise mode, and entering the franchise screen. I can’t select any of my franchises, create a new league or accept invites. The only button that engages is the back button (circle). It doesn’t happen on any other screen so it isn’t the controller. At first I thought it was because a system update was ready to install but after closing out the Madden software and installing the system update it continued.
