Hi,
since yesterday I try to install Alice: Madness Returns.
I have the Xbox Game Pass and first I tried to install it from the Xbox App. But the dowload never started on neither of the apps. Then I cancelled that (had to try that several times as the download always restarted on its own) and installed it from the EA App directly. Then it downloads, finishes downloading but it always gets stuck at exactly 34% while it tries to finish the installation.
Things I tried:
Cleared the Cache of the EA App
Deleted the game folders
Tried to install it on a different hard drive
Run the EA App as administrator
Logout and Login from the EA App
Uninstall and Reinstall the EA App
everything at once and in different orders
Installing a different games (which works just fine when I clear the cache and kill the EA App through task manager)
Download a different game and cancel that download
It always tries to install the game and gets stuck at 34% no matter what I try.
Things I can't do:
Pause the download
Cancel the download
(both buttons just don't react)
Clear the cache (the app won't restart and keeps running in the background until I kill it through task manager but it seems like it then actually cleared the cache but I'm not sure)
Is there anything else I could try?
My PC is running on Windows 11. I only use Windows Defender so I don't have any other AV

I was having this issue installing ALICE MADNESS RETURNS on windows 11 pro,
every time it would try to install, it would get stuck around 33% or 34%
and stay stuck finalizing or wrapping things up on EA Play or Xbox Gamepass.
If you experienced this issue with windows 10 and windows 11.
Try this....
DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL ALL MICROSOFT DIRECT X DRIVERS, RUNTIMES AND FRAMEWORKS BELOW
Microsoft Direct X Runtime Web installer. - Install - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
Microsoft DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) - Extract to a folder & then run the direct x setup to Installed them.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 - Install - https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/net35-sp1
Microsoft Redistributable for Visual C++
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 - Install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2008
NOTE: Microsoft Redistributable for Visual C++ some were already installed on my pc but checked anyway.. Skipping the ones already installed.
SIDE NOTE: Not sure if 2008 (no longer supported) is needed for game, but installed anyway since it was listed in the EA Play agreement when downloading..
Make sure all above are installed.
Once installed.
Select Alice Madness Returns in the EA App or Xbox Game pass and then the download button and install it should install without issues..
(Also shows in Xbox Game Pass)
ADDITIONAL NOTE: If you already installed and your stuck on 33% or 34%,
Install all above and then retry to download/install.
Deleting files is not required once above is installed and it should just continue to install.
Hope this helps you out.
Try it out and let me know if it helps.

Hey @Kabimmski Can you try going through the following steps and check if this continues?
If you continue running into issues, check if any security or network software is not interfering, and try to download a different game. See if the second game can get to 15%, if so then cancel the download and try to download Alice again.

Thanks for the reply but that didn't help either. I guess I just can't play Alice then. I will check back later. Maybe, someday, the issue gets fixed. But on the other hand I don't think that EA cares much. I mean, I read those tips a dozen times when I was trying to find a solution. And what wonders me the most is that I never read that EA tries to fix anything. I kinda understand that it is an old game and not many people will try to play it but yeah... I'm clearly not the only person with this issue. And installing a game is a process we should have figured out already. We only need to copy files to a drive. Nothing more, nothing less. How can this task still cause unfixable issues. I just don't understand. Sorry, I don't want to be rude. It's just frustrating how bad software quality is nowadays.

Hi, it's seems to come from Windows 11, I have exactly the same issue. I tried to install it on a Windows 10 PC (the same day), and I can play the game normaly.
I hope that this will allow us to find a solution...
