[BY DESIGN] Sims can be irreversibly orphaned if parents are deleted

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Norsk
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.54.120.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except moschino and the witch pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Create a new household with two parents and a child. 2. Save the household. 3. Go back to CAS and remove the parents. 4. Go into the genetics menu and create a parent; they won't register as the child's parent and you can't set them as such manually either. 5. Voilà! Your sim can never have parents again!
What happens when the bug occurs? There's no way (as far as I know) to give your sim parents after performing these steps, except maybe to get somebody to adopt them (I haven't tried). You do have to go out of your way somewhat to experience this bug, but it's not impossible to trigger by accident. Your only recourse is to save the sim to the gallery and load it back in, but you'll lose progress.
What do you expect to see? I was expecting to be able to create parents for the child. He must fend for himself.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Regards.

I'm also being told this is by design, it's been like this ever since we released the genealogy/family tree patch.

Hi @Trille666  pretty sure this is standard gameplay, if you were to 'create' the new parents first, it would be easy to then switch parents, I know when I'm changing things about, I usually put that into place first, like the game states when deleting, 'this is irreversible', also when saving sims to your library, it will keep skills & traits etc, I often do that even if changing outfits for the sim to keep it 'updated'.

You can go back to an earlier saved game file, however, & if you're new to that process, there's a good guide at Carls Sims 4 Guide for directions on doing that and salvage from an earlier time before deleting its parents.

Hope this helps.

@Trille666 I also don't think this is a bug. If you check the child's family tree, she still has parents (deleted ones). So you can't make another parent relationship.

It will probably work if you delete the relationship to the old parents via cheat.
