I guess Aliens don't consider some apartments to have roofs.

Strangely enough an ingame hour ago another sim of mine was abducted but she actually went outside of the building.

I've been told that it's by design that Aliens can abduct Sims that are indoors.

Looks like she's in the common area though, right ?

That area is probably considered outside but I'll tag @SimGuruNick and @IrishMadCat_EA on this one.

She is in the common area but I don't believe that should be considered outside because, well, she is still being abducted through multiple supposed floors. It's also annoying in this case because my sims on the other sides of her can't go through the area where she was abducted.

This happened to me as well. Mine got abducted inside the apartment (i.e. not the common area).

also Spencer-Kim-Lewis was abducted from a ground floor room in his home (Cypress Terrace, Willow Creek) so unfortunately it's not limited to apartments.
