Apex Xbox One X crash to home screen

★ Novice

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Please specify your platform model. Microsoft Xbox One X
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? MetalZeroEXE
Please provide your squad mates' gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name if possible.
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)?
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)?
Where did the issue occur? In a match
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. Anywhere
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. Running around
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? No
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? 0
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Every day
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? When Apex starts I have no audio on the splash screen with the explosion. Then I can (sometimes) get in game and while I'm playing I will lose all audio except my own gunfire. Then Apex go "brrrrr" and I home screen. I've reinstalled the game 6 times. Doesn't happen on ps4 or pc.
What should be happening instead? Not crashing
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Idk. It just crashes for me.

My internet speeds fluctuates at best. Sometimes it's 100kbps and sometimes it's 80mbps while downloading and reinstalling the game. I have tried to find an answer to this and have done everything from power cycle to factory reset to Mac address change and everything. My question is mostly can super slow dips in internet speeds or connection interruptions damage the install? For a while I was getting an error about it not being able to load kings canyon pak and then Olympus pak. Makes me think the install was corrupt. Then I just started getting a generic menu that just says "error" and then dashboards. I've never seen this before. Apex is the largest game I have on my Xbox but all other games work find. I played DayZ for 3 hours with no issues. Although it's significantly smaller at 8gb instead of 64gb for apex. I've reached my data limit this month already just reinstalling apex. Idk what to do.

Select Profile & System > Settings > System > Console info > Reset console
Select Reset and Keep my Games & Apps.

Select Profile & System > Settings > General > Power mode & startup > Power mode > Select Energy-saving

Select Profile & System > Settings > System > Console info > Disable optional data collection

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
My games & apps > Apex Legends > press more options > Manage game & add-ons > Saved data > Reserved space > Clear Reserved space
This might fix any corrupted data.
In-game brightness might reset.

Another thing you could try is if you play on external hard drive then move the game to internal hard drive.

Try to keep your hard drive 87% full or less.

I just bought a new ssd today and currently installing apex again. If this install does the same thing I may just have to take my Xbox somewhere else to install with better and more consistent internet. If it STILL fails then I'll chaulk it up to a faulty Xbox. It doesn't overheat or anything. I'm just REALLY hoping the ssd and fresh install of everything will fix the issue. I'll still try the above mentioned steps too. Just to make 100% sure. I've just been playing on pc and using Xbox game bar to have party chat with my Xbox friends. Lol.

Nat type should be Open.

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
  2. Go to System
  3. Choose Settings.
  4. Under General, choose Network Settings
  5. In the Current Network Status section, check your NAT type.

Check this Xbox troubleshooting guide and you can also contact your ISP to help you open ports.
