This remains an ongoing issue. Just had a game of TDM where aim assist just was not triggering throughout the entire game.
While it's heartening to see that Respawn have finally moved on the Control issue and took it out of rotation, there's still absolutely no communication on the aim assist issue.

I've tested the aim assist a few times in the Training Grounds. Sometimes you can get it to track on dummies. A lot of times it just stops working.
You can see the same effects in game. Play a few rounds of Gun Run or TDM and you'll mostly get no aim assist. Sometimes it'll work here and there. Sometimes it will 'double up' the effect and fully lock your crosshair on to a target.
Whatever Respawn did at the start of S17 broke the aim assist. It clearly wasn't in the patch notes, but definitely something with that update broke the aim assist.

Remains an issue, including the 'stacking' effect of aim assist. I just had a Gun Run game on Estates where I was across the map aiming with the Wingman, and the aim assist dragged my crosshair after a distant Caustic target.
That clearly shouldn't be happening, just as much as the non-triggering aim assist shouldn't be happening.

Aim. Assist. Is. Still. Broken.
I don't know what subset of players it's affecting, but it's clearly not hitting everyone. I encounter players where it's clearly working, I encounter players who clearly don't have it working (wildly trying to track me), and then there are the players lazer-beaming me from across the map, who I can only assume have both functioning aim assist and some effort at recoil control.
It's wildly inconsistent. It might trigger when you get into a fight, it might not. You might get it when you ADS, you might not. A lot of the time it's not.
Go into the Training Range, take your finger off the right stick and see if the aim assist tracks the dummies at all. Most of the time there's nothing. If you get behind them you can get the aim assist to trigger, sometimes.
This issue has destroyed the feel of the game, which used to be one of Apex Legends biggest draws for me. It needs a fix.

It's the inconsistency for me. That can't be intentional. Not to mention that it's only affecting some players and not everyone.
I keep coming back to the idea that the aim assist is triggering in some instances and not in others, and in certain edge cases it seems to be triggering twice and stacking up the effect (when you have the experience of the crosshair fully locking on to a target, which I've had a few times in game, and you have to fight to get it to respond to your inputs). That matches up with my experience in game and in the firing range with the dummies.
That inconsistency complete ruins the feel of the game because you've no idea what'll happen in a fight.

Going to keep bumping this. It's still broken. It's still inconsistent, Most of the time there's nothing and then occasionally you'll get a bit of it.
Can also see other players struggling with it as they wildly try and track me.
