I've been looking at the download issue with the EA app for the last couple of hours and found my particular culprit is DNS.

I use Quad9 (9.9.9.9) DNS and the app fails to download more than a few KB/s.  If I change it to something like the internet spies Google, it works.  

Can a community manager (or anyone?) confirm what has changed with the download method between the Origin Client (which worked flawlessly) and the 'new' EA App?  

Why is Quad9 causing the issue, ea.com doesn't seem blocked - but I have no idea where the downloads come from.
