Gem Explorers Challenge Instructions

One of the instructions to collect a reward in Gem Explorers is to "Clear Gems (0/13,000)."  Can someone explain what exactly it is asking me to do?  Am I supposed to be collecting white gems? Am I supposed to be clearing all the gems on the board by connecting two hypercubes?  Any help would be appreciated.
