Bejeweled 3 Error, Unable to Play

I just purchased Bejeweled 3 through "On the House". I downloaded the game and started it, no problem. I played for about 10 minutes before I had to leave my computer. I exitted the game, returned 15 minutes or so later, went to start the game and got this error:

Now I am unable to start it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that didn't help. I changed nothing on my computer in the 15 minutes between playing while it was working, and it throwing up this error message.

Open regedit, go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SteamPopCap\Bejewelled3
and change the value of
ArtRes to 258 (Hexadecimal) or 600 (Decimal)
This should make the game start again.

yes that works [changing the ArtRes value to 258 hex] and I guess it's better than no game at all - but it only allows you to play in the lowest res mode without 3d acceleration

Yes until I can find more methods to fix this, you can play on the lowest resolution with no 3D Acceleration. From what I found on the internet, it seems it's a video driver issue, I have one solution that might help but that did not work for me. Maybe it will work for you or many others, so try out the following solutions on the links below:

Also keep this in mind, because it might be the case:

"I played the game on another screen and voila, it's not the card tha causes the problem, it's my old monitor."

I bought this game as a bundle pack with peggle and also plants vs Zombies and the other two games still work fine along with all my other games from origin this has been the only one that has failed to load or even play after 4 hours so i hope this works

I can't believe it, this issue has been around for two years and yet clearly EA or popcap have just ignored it, there are still people on steam (including me) getting this issue and the game is still being sold but no mention that if your monitor is more than a couple of years old you can't play it. This issue not only stops you playing it wipes out your saves that you invested hours in and your just left with whatever achievements you have earned but that's courtesy of steam not EA.

Ok I do not have SteamPopCap I only have PopCap and there is no ArtRes in the folder

Your answer makes no sense at all to me . I have a modern computer with a modern monitor . I've been running Bejeweled3 for five years on first of all, a Windows 7 computer , then a Windows 8 computer , then a Windows 10 computer . My Windows 10 computer is fully up to date with the latest updates and it's only since I did the latest update that this problem has shown itself. I've never before had a problem with this game and I'm seriously annoyed that my much loved game has been destroyed by what appears to be an act of wilful destruction by Microsoft.
