Problems using Joystick - simultaneously pitch and roll

I'm trying to fly with my Saitek X52 in Battlefield 5, but I can't get it to work properly. The axis generally do work, but if I try to pull up and then start to roll just a little bit, the plane almost completely stops to pull up. Only if I stop rolling, pulling up works again. I don't have the same issues when playing any other flight sim or when using Mouse and Keyboard in BF 5.  Why is it not working properly?
