So yeah i tell my squad to defend the objectives near our spawn base because i know that every  team in bf1 and bf5 tries to spawn trap the alllies . The russians due the same on operation locker in bf4 and tell people to defend their flags please. As well as make it so that bf1 players can play all the maps on one server without having to wait a few months and make all conquest maps in bf5 on one playlist.

I regularly make game-time 'gut' predictions too ,

though I can't predict which of us is more on cue .

Here though mine is saying don't trust yours , 

seems valuable assets (such as periods) were ignored .

Situational awareness (it's a V thread) was askew .

annd . . .this 'spawn-trapped' thinking irks me too .

Regardless if you're casual or competitive, the vast majority of players pretty much play the same way; The more you play with certain groups, the easier it gets to predict their movements as well.

The biggest Battlefield trap is the zerg - if you can resist it's temptations you're bound to top the leaderboard.
