What server admin options do you want there to be?

The more options there are for server admins to choose from, the more personalized custom servers we'll see, and the more satisfied players will be.

What options do you hope will be available for server admins to configure?

I'd like to see these:

- ability to choose the map-size and maximum player-count independently (so that a 128-player map-size can be played with a maximum of 64, or 80, etc players)

- no weapon customization while spawned / weapon modification only on loadout screen

- no specialist gadgets / disable class specialists

- no cataclysm events

- limited sprint (like in Battlefield 2)

- squad-spawning only on the squad leader

- disable visible health-bars on enemy / friendly units

- disable class icons above spotted enemies or friendlies

@Turbo_Nozomix I want Procon/rcon functionality (it can be DICE made in game version equivalents) and nothing less.

Another server option I'd like to see is no magic clips - so that when a gun is reloaded, any ammo that's remaining in the clip is discarded, like in Battlefield 2. This is a great attrition system and encourages mindful usage of ammo and strategic reloading to ensure that ammo is conserved for when needed and also that a reload won't be necessary in the middle of a fight.

Battlefield 2's no-reusable-clip-ammo, limited-sprint, and squad-leader-only spawning features did a lot to encourage teamwork and tactical playing.

The squad-leader-only spawning together with limited-sprint in very large maps encouraged working together as a squad to keep the leader and spawn-point alive.

The limited-sprint, aside from creating a resource that needs to managed so that it's available when it can make the important difference, made players dependent upon each-other for rides. And as players knew what it's like to not have a ride themselves, they would volunteer rides to other players.

I also really like that Battlefield 2's Commander can use assets on the map, such as artillery, and that players from the opposing team can take-out the artillery, and then the Commander can't use it to call-in artillery strikes. Stuff like that is great for creating immersion and layers of depth to a match.

I hope that all those things will be available in Bf 2042 as server options. Battlefield 2's more expert and punishing systems resulted in more teamwork and tactical playing.

Please, DICE, just let people play the way they want to play - especially with offline bot-matches now being a thing again. See from the feedback who likes to run servers with those settings, how many people play on them, and play on them yourselves to see how fun it is and how it changes the way people play.

Also, I hope we'll see some creative map scenarios, like what Battlefield 2 did by having a variety of flag and ticket systems. Some maps, one team would start with no uncap but hold all the flags, while the other team would start with one uncap but no flags held. Or one team might start with far more tickets than the other, but their tickets would count-down faster than the other team's and they wouldn't start with as many flags and so would have to capture some to stop their ticket bleed.

It's also great when neither team has an uncap base.

There is so much more complexity to Battlefield 2 than there is in any newer Battlefield game. It's a tragedy how much has been lost from the series. And the series is just coming off of two of the most over-simplified games in the series. I really hope that 2042 completely turns things around in that regard.

@Turbo_Nozomix Options to
* disable 3rd person view in vehicles
* enable friendly fire
* adjustable setting for friendly fire kicks
* squad leader spawn
* adjust spotting settings (depending on how that will work)

Absolute must-haves for Admins are:

  1. Access to 'spectator mode' with first person view and 3rd person view of all soldiers in the game.
  2. Access to kick/ban players directly from the 'spectator mode'.
  3. Access to ban up to minimum 500 players.  And the ban list should indicate date/timestamp for the ban.  And ideally also if it was owner or delegated admin that executed the ban.
  4. Ability to see latency value on each player on the scoreboard.
  5. Ability to set max latency on players or they will be auto kicked off the server.
  6. Ability to enable/disable access to all weapons/vehicles as are in the game for the players.

I would also like to see an option to disable bots, and to set a certain number of bots separate from the number of player-slots for a server.

I'd also like to be able to customize the number of players a server accepts independently from the size of maps the servers runs. For example, so that a 128-player map-size can be played with there being just 100, 80, or 64 player slots available in the server. And maybe bots would be allowed to fill-up only 40 of the server's total slots.

Guys hate to burst your bubbles but face it there will be no private servers on launch with BF2042  .....   Nothing, zip, nada..   Maybe within the first year after launch they may say coming soon.

Maybe the love letter to Battlefield vets coming from DICE LA  might be the private servers you are wishing for.

You did not play much BF1 or BFV did you ??? There is no truth to this statement at all. Conquest Assault is the game mode you are referring to and BF1 had 5 maps with this mode..
Reload full mags... please silly option and the reload mechanic in BF1 and V was must more refined and balanced.

You are going to have a big shock when BF2042 is launched because it's not going to play anything like BF4.

@ShevermiN  Rather, there is no truth at all to your naysaying. And I can hardly imagine a more silly comment than the one you made there.

>> "You did not play much BF1 or BFV did you ???"

Actually, I played a ton of Battlefield 1, and enough of Battlefield 5.

Battlefield 1, outside of Bf 1942 and Vietnam, is the most simplified and dumbed-down Battlefield game in the entire series. It's also the worst-performing Battlefield in the series' history, by player-retention.

To compare either Bf1 or Bf5 to Battlefield 2, which is, by far, the most complex Battlefield in the entire series, outright says that you haven't played Battlefield 2. If you had, the thought of pitting them against Bf2 regarding complexity wouldn't have even crossed your mind because you'd know how extremely absurd it would be to try to pit one of the utmost simplistic games in the series against the most complex, specifically on the topic of game complexity.

>> "Conquest Assault is the game mode you are referring to and BF1 had 5 maps with this mode.."

In my comment, I wasn't focused on any specific game mode - I don't know how you got that out of what I said, or why you ended-up thinking I was complaining that Bf1 and Bf5 lack a certain game-mode. Also, the idea that two games having the same game-mode means they have the same complexity, when the game features and mechanics are extremely different, is ridiculous.

>> "Reload full mags... please silly option and the reload mechanic in BF1 and V was must more refined and balanced."

The reload mechanic in Bf1 and Bf5 isn't more refined or balanced... those aren't even words that can apply to it. In Bf1 and Bf5, reloading is just reloading from the total pool of ammo. While, in Bf2, reloading is reloading from the total pool of ammo, minus the ammo that's left in the clip that's being replaced with a new one. The Bf2 reload style involves management and more tactical thinking and mindful use of ammo, and so it requires more thinking from players and makes for more advanced playing.

Considering how ridiculous everything you said in your comment is, you should be very familiar with what's silly. But I don't think that makes you a good judge of what is and what isn't silly - otherwise, you wouldn't have made the post you did.

The great thing about options is that they're options and not forced on people. As an option, it would be great to be able to use Bf2's more advanced reloading system that adds layers of complexity to the game through resource management and attrition, and mindful and conservative usage of ammo (which changes how engagements occur and play-out). Bf2's ammo system affords for a higher level of playing and skill, which is more satisfying to people who seek deeper levels of thought and tactics in their gaming experiences.

And I don't think you have any good idea of what Bf 2042 is going to be like. I also don't know why you're assuming what other people expect it to be like. It seems that you do a lot of talking about things you have no familiarity with.
