Bad Company 2 not working?

Bad Company 2 does NOT start even though I just bought the game 30 minutes ago....I load the game up, attempt to login to my EA account and I repeatedly get hit with the message "unable to login". Super upsetting that this game is even for sale with this issue. I bought it off of steam from the summer sale and im regretting it now. Please can someone help me?

@succmelater if you try to log in to Origin.com does that work?
