Yes it is a known bug that randomly causes lots of frustration to complete that segment of the Campaign for some players...
And yes, it never got fixed, so its left behind 'as is'.
Ways to get around it are:
For some then this works very well, by simply pressing the button/command to pause the game when that apparent water current push back force comes. The swim for a short while, then pause again, rinse and repeat.
Similar like this if you are on a keyboard:
- You swim forward.
- The moment you are not going forward any more, release "w" key and hit esc. key (quick, to avoid going back to much)
- Hold "w" key and hit esc, you start swimming forward again.
- Repeat from 1, takes about 30 sec to get there then.
Others have come through by wiggling direction a bit from side to side to avoid the obstacles while swimming will help. Also tend to feel better propulsion forward by not pressing the move forward button just constantly, but more actually trying to press it 'in synch' as if your soldier would take one breast swimming stroke for every time you jab the button. Worked for me for sure, so best of luck wit it, as its a highly frustrating bug to overcome.
