Punk Buster "Downloading the update failed , please try again later"

Hi , just pre loaded BF4 and tried to play it , when entering multiplayer i get the message the i dont have punkbuster installed .

So i download the PBsetup and choose BF4 from the list , direct it to the game install folder and press "Check for updates".

PB starts to download updated and around the time it reaches the file vc02332.htm.zip it fails and tells me "Downloading the update failed , please try again later" .. tried everything , from uninstalling to turning off the antivirus ... nothing helps.

What can i do ?

If you receive an error telling you that your Punkbuster is either out of date or not installed when trying to start your game:

• Head to the Battlefield 4 installation folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4 by default, then find the _Installer folder.
• In _Installer, find and navigate into the Punkbuster folder, and from there, into the redist folder.

Find and run pbsvc.exe to update or repair your Punkbuster installation.

I do that, but don't work, I install and when I was gonna play for the first time this punk buster happen.

Please read the problem in it's entirety.

It is known that when installed from steam that punkbuster does not work properly, and although there seems to be a fix through punkbuster, the download of the update (vc002351.htm) is unable to update and download.

What the problem likely stems from is that the punkbuster service included with your battlefield software does not include the updated file. I have found this while looking at the files included in the battlefield folder, and the updated file, vc002351.htm is NOT included in the list.

I tried downloading the file manually but to no avail. It seems that unless punkbuster download servers come online again, the only fix is from EA's side, and that would be to include the correct and updated punkbuster files with the game that they are now selling on steam.

For reference, punkbuster had no problems and runs fine from the installation folder that you are referencing, and did from the beginning in my case. It is just running an old version.

I hope for your company's sake that this is fixed quickly, otherwise there are going to be many steam users issuing refunds.

This is all coming from a person that bought the game again on steam due to the broken nature of the Origin platform.

im having the same problem but i was able to download the vc002351.htm.zip from evenbalance.com and extract it to the pb folder and now it updates past that part... now my issue is wc002351.htm even tho i download and extract just like the previous file it still fails the update and says to try again
