Guys could you please check following workarounds. Please let us know if one of the links helped you to solve this issue and say thanks by spending some XP for the guys.

DirectX function "getDeviceRemovedReason" failed with "DxGi_error_Device_Hung"- SP only, caused by videocard overclock (e.g. GTX460)

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/Battlefield-4-keeps-crashing-on-PC/m-p/1749703#M25990

1600 megabytes of VRAM use I get this error: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" - lowering from high/ultra to medium in x64 or low in x86 fixes the issue. DirectX updates/fixes mentioned do not help at all.

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/Battlefield-4-keeps-crashing-on-PC/m-p/1757907#M28420

Once the game reaches 1.8-1.9GB of vram, it freezes and crashes....

http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/Battlefield-4-keeps-crashing-on-PC/m-p/1754451#M27336

The game has some type of VRAM leak. Look at your VRAM usage. It will spike if your settings are too high. Instead of dropping the frame rate like other games, it crashes instead. Poorly coded games cause DirectX errors like this.

1. A WORKAROUND ISN"T A FIX!!!!! FIX THE DAMN GAME. These are just random ideas that don't work. Why should I have to lower my game settings when my hardware is good enough to play it at ultra. This is a poor game design.

2. I am surprised there isn't a lawsuit against EA for this crap. I have talked to 5 EA "advisers" that all give me these stupid workaround ideas. This error is prevalent among many users. I doubt that that many peoples computers have issues.

3. Quit treating us like we are ignorant by posting links to other forums. If we are on a forum we probably searched for answers beforehand.

4. POST A SOLUTION NOT A BULL**** WORKAROUND

5.Here is just some of what I have tried so far that doesn't work.

1. Lowered core clock and core volatage

2. Set AFFINITY to first two CPU processors

3. Clean boot

4. 50mghz refresh rate playing in windowed mode

5. updated all drivers

6. Uninstalling, sweeping, and reinstalling several GeForce drivers, from betas to officials

7. Disabled origin in-game

8. Tried playing on lowest graphics settings

9. Reinstalling BF4

10. Disabling cloud storage for BF4 in origin

11. reinstalling directx

12. and others I am not taking the time to think of

This dude has pretty much said it in a nut shell. I've spent more time troubleshooting than I have playing. Still no fix. Only "work arounds" I have, or others have found. EA you need to seriously address this. Make a statement, say something so we know you have at least considered fixing the problem. Oh, wait you probably can't type because your fingers are so tired from counting all your un-happy customer's money. Great business you are running there. I've said it in previous posts, CoD is just a few more days away, Go Activision.

Mgabbert12 pretty much hit the nail on the head. We're frustrated and tired of this **bleep**. You're treating us like imbeciles. It's like you guys saw all the vast amounts of pre-orders and didn't even test the **bleep**ing game? Right now, this is not worth $70 ...it's a half-assed beta. We want to see a SOLUTION dammit! I pre-ordered back in March for christ sakes! Seems like that's plenty of time to fix whatever needs to be fixed!!! I've been loyal to you guys man...but **bleep** that now.

Using 1 Titan with GPU Tweak (Asus) - Resolved my problem by turning up the Frame Rate Target (FPS) to 100 via my GPU Tweak, surprisingly it has stabilized the error device hang-up "for now"... IG so far 1 hour with no hickups.   All settings on Ultra AND Fullscreen, Refresh at 60Hz.  Worked for me, hoping it helps someone else!

Here is one solution that worked for me (ATI 6900) - the same should apply for Nvidia, just get the latest driver:

1) Download latest Catalyst drivers from www.amd.com (Should be version 13.9 or higher) - *don't install*.

2) Download Treexy Driver Fusion (http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion) 1.7.0 and install it

3) Uninstall current Catalyst drivers through the Control Panel and *reboot* your PC

4) You should be reverted back to good old VGA. Now, fire up Driver Fusion and click "Maintenance"->"Driver Family"->[x] AMD (Swap with Nvidia if thats your card)->"Details" (Bottom)

5) Ensure all the files in the list are selected  and click "Delete" (Bottom). Wait for the process to complete and then *reboot* your PC again.

6) Repeat step 4, this time the list should be empty - if not; repeat 5 and 6 until all files are removed otherwise if the list is empty continue to 7...

7) Navigate to where you downloaded the Catalyst drivers and run the exe file. It will extract the files to a folder (E.g. C:\amd\[...etc]) and start it's setup program. Run through the setup (It might say "Setup completed with Warnings" at the end - ignore this, it's fine)

8) Click [Finish] - *reboot* once more.

9) Fire up BattleField and see if all is well...

* One other note. Ensure your PC is connected to the mains and not a consumer grade UPS - most of the consumer UPS's will not deliver sufficent power (beep horribly usually) when your system ramps up demand (which Battlefield will cause it to do).

Hope it helps.

Why should we have to down clock our gpu's/cpu's, its a error originating from battlefield 3. clearly a engine problem.... why do we pay 40 quid for EA to make up work arounds because they don't know how to fix it

Re: DirectX function GetDeviceRemovedReason failed with dxgi_error_device_hung

Same problems here and installing latest drivers and those other workaround tips didn't work for me! I want a patch that makes this game playable and I want it fast! I paid 60€ for a game I can't play right now and since I am not the only one that has those problems I can assume that it ain't my fault that this game doesn't work.

Win 7 64 bit

8GB Ram

nVidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti (driver 331.65)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3450 CPU @ 3.10 GHz

Greetings
