Re: BF4 servers currently under DDOS attack! Crashing/freezing/dumping players

We are also experiencing issues with our Battlefield 4 server. Although we are not seeing high pings. We are however seeing blaze crashes at xx:18, xx:20. xx:48 and xx:50. It looks like a bad actor is sending spoofed messages to the back-end of Battlefield to disconnect all players as our server remains up and is not reporting strange behaviour only the back-end of battlefield does.

Very intriguing @GODSGRAV3 ,

As we are then having the same bad state across our servers!

Because here some of the insights I also have digged out, after great and keen help also from the server hosting partner that EA uses for the PlayStation environment here in Europe.  We have sat up 'live' direct measure and tracking 24/7 of my own local Playstation4 and its direct internet line linkage to the physical server box at the BF4 server hosting company (i3D.net here in Europe) and they had similar trackers sat up on their BF4 server box.

So here we have hard evidence and proof that at absolutely no time ever, did we have even one single package lost between the two entities in their communication with each other.  Not one single line fault or disconnect.  And this setup we ran for 3+ days.  All perfect, clean and complete.  Not one single bleep on the line or on the server or on my PS4 ever!

And still.  The BF4 game server provided the message back to me, that the user had lost the connection to the EA Game Server.   All despite this was physically and technically not correct, as I had still direct line connection with the test application and so did the test application on the server hosting side.  The server hosting company/tech team could confirm the same thing from their end.  And their server was still fully visible and connectable from my end also!  And we never had any lost line or data package the entire time.  Consistent latency from me to server in around 18-22ms throughout the entire period.

i3D.net could therefore conclude that all from my end and to them was in absolute mint condition and never a single fault observed.  Similar on their end, the server setup and its connection to us via the internet was absolutely working as intended and thereby fully fulfilling what they are asked by EA to provide of BF4 server hosting service to the internet.  But that their BF4 server instance on their box was indeed at times getting a signal from the EA's own backend system to drop the attached players.  So they hinted towards it was on EA's side and something entirely going bad in the interactions between the hosted servers in the server park and the control/interfaces they have with EA's backend (aka managing the user directories, granting access or not, etc).  (I guess this is what you refer to as BLAZE?).

They acknowledged this was something they had to get fixed in the environment between EA and themselves and nothing we could do anything about on the users side and our connectivity to the game server itself with this hosting partner.

From what you share here @GODSGRAV3 , you then consider that the root cause is due to aka DDOS/script attacks on EA's internal backend (BLAZE?) that controls the user access to the external hosted game servers?

Our servers are brought to their knees and our thousands of regular gamers are getting more and more disappointed by the day this is allowed to carry on by EA.  (aka we have 50,000+ favs on our server and normally its literally running full 24/7 with 64 gamers at all times).

EA BF4 Servers still crashing on hourly basis here in Europe!

And still no response from EA Support and no tangible effort being executed by their tech support team to get it fixed.

So despite having loyally spent 7+ years to pay big money to EA to rent servers from them, nothing is being done so far in past 3 weeks since raising multiple support tickets to get the servers back online and available for actually playing on them.

We have 50,000+ favs on the server so literally thousands of EA customers right now who do not have access to what they paid for.

Malice or Not? BF4 Servers Need to be Reset or Serviced!

★ Guide

Server just keeps on crashing! Even when I'm by myself trying to start it up!

The weirdest part when it's full is, it's when the ticket count gets down to 1ticket, it freezes and crashes, but than it doesn't register on battlelog!

We have to change the settings so everyone can join the server again!

I tried changing the settings back to it's original settings of 64 plrs 30 Hz and it hasn't changed since yesterday, we're stuck on 46 plrs 45 Hz!

Please anyone at EA who loves BF4, please help the community, we're still a large community that loves the game!

It's going to be our anniversary of six years and up to almost 60K favorites!

Someone please let's clean up the server service!

Server: Hardcore Nation Metro

Console: PS4

Game: BF4

If the backend Blaze causing such trouble then it is EA's job to troubleshoot. Btw it is still going on - now on multiple EU servers! https://petition.tne.ovh/

That is correct @co0ga ,

Especially if we talk about a PlayStation based server!

Then ALL support to the end user on having that server running correctly is legally assigned to EA's responsibility.  EA may have outsourced their  BF4 server hosting function to one of their business partners, but that is then for EA themselves to figure out.  We being EA customers are only to go to EA direct to get the server hosting problem solved.

And yes, I also can confirm that from the EA server hosting partner for Europe for the BF4 PlayStation environment.  And they also confirm this issue to be linked to something on EA's own internal backend.  (referred to as BLAZE in other posts...)

Hi @czarnuch1983 I'm a volunteer rather than an employee I'm afraid. However I do know that it's something EA are aware of and I imagine, and hope, it's something they are working on. I guess it's a complex issue to fix or it wouldn't still be happening so regularly.

Fully agreed @Chronic1Thunder ,

We suffer from same BF4 server crashes non stop again and again on the PlayStation platform here in Europe!

Despite having raised Support Tickets with EA HelpDesk repeatedly (as they never factually solve the problem) our server is constantly crashing again and again still here several weeks into having raised the first Support Tickets.

We have spent $1,000s over the past 7+ years to build our Battlefield gamer community up of over 52,000 favs and faithful gamers on this server.  Running full typically 24/7.  But now last recent weeks its all laying in shattered ruins, as the server keeps crashing, so the players are all kicked off before we even get all 64 players back online again and we cant finish a single game round before next crash.

Server: "METRO MANIACS 24/7 400% 3200 TICKETS"

Console: PS4/PS5

Game: BF4

Hi @czarnuch1983 ,

I have exact the same problem.

Now I do though have the legal team from SONY Europe to support me and let there be zero doubt:  Sony has no responsibility what so ever for the availability or service/support of the EA BF4 servers running the BF4 application in the PlayStation environment!

And certainly for the server hosting/support for the PlayStation environment, then we the consumers/users/renters are all to go direct to EA for this support.  We are NOT to goto the server hosting partner that EA have outsourced this to.  Heck, officially we don't even know who they are, so how could we?  :o)   That is an absolute again certain thing legally and regulatory firm thing to keep in mind.

And despite this, I have now at multiple occasions being diverted by the EA Support helpdesk, telling me to have to contact Sony or the Server hosting partner to get my server crashing problem solved.

Not so!  It is matter of fact wrong!

And very infuriating to be honest, that EA Support gives such direct wrong information.

I am happy to pull out copies of the support chat interactions, where these direct wrong things have been pushed onto me.

I have repeatedly provided this also in my feedback on the Support Tickets, but despite this, it still goes on to this day...
