If I recall correctly, then your Origin ID will remain 'protected and reserved' up till 24 months after your last login. So that also means that if you here in your case wants to register now the ShapWletz ID, then it takes that the prior owner of that ID has been absent for more than 24 months by now. So despite you may not see any active gamers these days using that ID, it takes that the full 2 years goes since last login before Origin releases that ID before it can be re-registered and used by somebody else again.
