BF4 mouse problem

★★★★ Novice

Hi, just installed & patched BF4 for PC. When it launches my character is pointing straight up & mouse movements is non responsive. I can aim & fire with left & right mouse buttons however and keyboard commands seem ok. I am running Windows 7 latest patch, Razer Deathadder had no issues in the beta. Same issue occurs when I'm in multiplayer or the tutorial mode. No idea what to do to sort it, never had this problem in BF3, BF:BC2 or MOH so any idea's.

Please disregard, another member helped me.  Turns out for whatever reason the joystic X/Y axis interferes with the mouse X/Y wheel axis.  I also simply unplugged my joystick and then my mouse in the game worked flawlessly thereafter.

Thanks!

***************** I will post the fix for this problem at the end of this post! *****************

Same problem. After playing some weeks (incl. beta) without problems, I tried the Commander-Mode yesterday. After that, my mouse shows exactly the same problems. The mosue react, but the X and Y axis isn't working. The pointing of the character moves slowly to heaven.

I tried: reinstall mouse-driver, BF4-Reinstall (the option at Origin), other USB-Port, other mouse.

System: Windows 7 64bit, Mouse: Razr Imperator and Logitech G3

------ edit --------------

just talked to the support. They sent me a workaround (a user.cfg, but dosn't fix the issue). Now I have to send MSInfo and Tracert. I will keep you informed.

The EA support has no idea and never intends to develop a solution to my several requests. Now, here's the fix for this issue, as I promised:

This is, what fixed my Problem: Disconnecting my joystick from USB fixes problems with the mouse. Seems that the axis-signals by the joystick is making trouble to the axis-signals of the mouse. My advise: Disconnect every hardware from USB you don't need for BF4. At my system the problem was a joystick, other users reports the same problem caused by wheels etc.

Hope, this will help.

Now I spoke with three guys from the EA support (only the US support, because the german support has absolutely no concept). I will post this summary for you with all work arounds we try:

Description of the issue: After playing some weeks (incl. beta) without problems, I tried the Commander-Mode on Nov, 22nd. After that, my mouse buttons react, but moving the mouse (sliding the X and Y axis) shows no reaction. The pointing of the character moves slowly to heaven.

Previous workarounds:
-installing of any new drivers (graphic card, soundcard, mouse, systemdrivers)
-different mouse
-different USB-port
-Battlefield 4 repair-install
-complete deinstall and install (included the not acceptable download-rate by origin)

-extensive workaround:

  • launch the game
  • leave the game running and minimize the game or return to Windows by hitting the Window key on the keyboard.
  • open the task manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time and clicking the Task Manager button.
  • In the Task Manager, click the tab labelled Processes.
  • right-click the process (.exe file) corresponding to the game.
  • Then click on the Set Affinity option to select it.
  • remove the check marks from all but the first two processors, so that only CPU 0 and CPU 1 are selected.
  • click OK.
  • Perform a clean boot and then play the game.

-clean boot:

  • Hold down the Windows key and press R. (This will open the Run dialogue.)
  • Type msconfig and press Enter.
  • In System Configuration, select the Services tab.
  • Check the Hide all Microsoft Services box and click the Disable all button.
  • Select the Startup tab.
  • Click the Disable All button, then click the Apply button.
  • Now restart your system and try to launch the game.

-system restore

  • Open System Restore by clicking the Start button.
  • In the search box, type in System Restore and press ENTER or click Search.
  • in the list of results, click System Restore.
  • follow the steps in the wizard to choose a restore point and restore their computer.
  • choose the most recent restore point
  • Now restart your system and try to launch the game.

Nothing of this above will fix this bug, the game is still not playable.

The last contact with EA now asked me to post the issue in forums and he wants to pass the issue to a specialist team, that will contact me soon.

News:
After a new battlelog plugin was distributed (2.3.2.0), the issue was fixed. for two days. I could play normally, the mouse was working as it should. Since today the problem came back, exactly as it was (see above).

In the meantime I tried a different mouse product with different drivers and tried another browser (Firefox and Internet Explorer). But it doesn't matter.

EA didn't contact me.

I have the same mouse axis issue.  I can aim, fire and use the right mouse button but I can't look up, down, left or right.  This needs to get fixed NOW>  I'm missing the whole GD weekend of XP BOOST.  Thanks alot...

I found a fix to my issue. It might be useful for some. It was my Logitech G27 force feedback wheel that was affecting the mouse. Once I unplugged the wheel the mouse problems went away. Try unplugging all non mouse USB devices like wheels and gamepads perhaps might fix it. A tad annoying but it was a solution for me.

OK, I think, I fixed the problem and found the reason for that issue.

Because EA doesn't get in contact with me (as it was promised by their advisors), I won't write about the workaround here.

If you are interested, please contact me via PM.

I also have a similar problem, but it only happens when I am not in a vehicle. Can someone post a fix? Happens in all maps so there is a common issue.

Cheers

Hey everyone,

I fixed the problem here by disconnecting all othe USB devices and changing the usb port the keyboard and mouse were in. Hope this works for the rest of you.

Cheers,
Scott.
