"Failed to connect to EA Online" (Xbox 360)

I tried getting online, but I was given a message stating "Failed to connect to EA Online." What should be my course of action?

Have you opened the correct ports in your router for your 360 as detailed here: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/networking/network-ports-used-xbox-live
