What advantages does the squad leader have over the other three squad mates? Also, sometimes I feel like I randomly become squad leader. Is there a reason someone becomes leader or is it who starts the squad?

The first person who joins a squad becomes the squad leader.

If the squad leader quits the next in line becomes the squad leader.

There are some benefits to being a squad leader.

If you use the spot function on objectives you can set priority objectives for members of your squad to focus on.

You will get points for them working to and fulfilling that objective as a leaderhip assist.

In some custom game modes your squadmates can only spawn on the squad leader.
