Battlefield 3 on PC

I bought the Battlefield 3 game on DVD but when loading the game I get a message that I have to download the game from Origin but this is a long slow process. If I have to download why do I buy the DVD?

I bought the DVD as well and I couldn't even install it. I solved it by downloading origin. Then redeem the product code and install it. I panicked for 3 days till I found this ridiculously easy solution.
