Battlefield 3 Server Issues Since Mar. 6, 2024 [ Edited ]

Can any dev or community manager provide clarity on what maintenance was performed a couple of weeks ago?

Since this maintenance, our BF3 PC server has been crashing. I have been talking to multiple server owners and the same thing is happening to them. So we have decided to start testing different server settings and here's what we have found out so far: Servers that are utilizing 1 single map i.e operation metro, are not crashing. Servers that have a map rotation, whether it's been set up as a vote map or just an automatic 'next map' are not lasting longer than a couple of matches, then they disappear from Battlelog not allowing any new players to search and eventually the server crashes. This has been a massive headache and nightmare for server owners and this has only started since this last maintenance. 

So I ask, can we get some clarity on what maintenance was performed? Is EA intentionally trying to get rid of Battlefield 3 without officially announcing such?

Hi,

since about march 6th 2024 (see picture below) we're experiencing issues with our servers that got a map- or gamemode rotation. They just disappear in Battlelog after a certain time (two or three times a day) and only a restart of the server shows them up again in battlelog.
All my other servers that got just one map- and game mode doesn't have those problems.

I was also troubleshooting the issues by disabling my RCon tools but the problem persists.

So could anyone of EA/Dice have a look at this issue as I know other server owners got same problems?

Wiemi, thank you for also posting about this issue. I've been talking with Matt (TBG) and I'm sure he's been talking to you about all of the issues that have been occurring since this update. EA has broken the game with whatever "maintenance" they performed and as you said it only occurs on servers with a map rotation.

@Checka_Wiemi I confirm, TAHK_MUTPOFAHA, Kent, Trap, Fear Clan and some other servers also reported the problem (we have a small Russian speaking community). EA support ignores the problem and ignores any questions on Twitter (X) and other social networks

@iBlindfolded I get it, the game is over 10 years old, but after all these years hundreds and thousands of people are still playing... while bf3 is on sale at 95% off on Steam - they entrusted server and battlelog maintenance to some intern and now they can't fix them for 3 weeks now

Or like you said - they just plan to quietly "kill" the game. I really wonder if in 2034 there will be as many people playing bf2042 as are currently playing bf3/4 (obviously not)

I think we just need to continue to bump this thread. This is still happening and I certainly do not see any type of fix coming.
