BF3 - COOP-MODE - Is it still working / operational in (June 2020) ?

Hello All
I just wanted to do a coop-mission with a friend
1. Started the COOP mission
2. Invited the friend
3. Both now are staring at a blue message box at the bottom of the screen telling (see screenshot)

Waiting for player to join [x]

Help! what must I do to get COOP-Mode going (again)?

NOTE: I do not have any MULTI-player troubles at all.
Playing at 64 player server-game with easy

Any hints, tips and tricks will be appreciated

Thanks for the invite Panddah. It looks like a fun idea to me, thank you.

BUT (in order not to spend a lot my time and energy finding out / debugging this on my own)

I first want to have official confirmation from EA / DICE themselves if BF3 COOP still works or not in 2020
- I already have asked this to EA_Jason (on 02 july 2020) and
- I am still waiting on a reply from him or any other official BF3-forum moderator here.

Me & friend want to play coop.

I click on the Play COOP, start mission dropdown and select my friend.

It says starting game and launches game automatically.... I wait.

My friend gets the popup invite and accepts. His is launching game automatically too.

We both see the game's usual loading screen.

About 20 seconds later, the game quits back to desktop... saying the other person cancelled the game/session.

But we don't did not do anything.

I've been able to boot into Co-op mode in public matchmaking around maybe a month ago when I got the game, but as of recently it seems like the matchmaking is screwed. 

Right now when I try to search for Co-op games it'll show the "Waiting for player to join" gamestate, the BF3 client will start as a background process but it won't actually load into a co-op game regardless of how long I wait in queue. The background client only ever ends up consuming some 43-ish MB of RAM so the game isn't loading anything, CPU usage for BF3 climbs to around 30% after hitting 43 MB RAM usage before dropping down to zero. If I refresh Battlelog, the gamestate disappears but BF3 is still open as a background process. If I wait long enough, I get greeted with "Could not communicate with BF3. Please use the Task Manager to close it down.".

What's up with this? I've used Chrome to boot into matches in the past and its worked fine before, tested to see if disabling Chrome extensions changed anything and it didn't. Wondering if this is an issue with Chrome itself rather than the game.

Edit (Feb 08 2021); It's been a minute. I've tried launching BF3 co-op through Opera GX and it pretty much failed to load into co-op lobbies the exact same way.
