My Sims 4 Keeps Crashing

I made no changes and mine has been crashing all morning too.  I am so over having a game I spend thousands of dollars on not work.  This is trash. 

SimObsessions  Thanks for including a dxdiag and testing without mods.  Most of the errors in your dxdiag are system issues, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Please try again to play, this time in a new save in one of the base game worlds, still with no mods or custom content.  If you get another crash, look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash, after running DISM and sfc.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

I have never played with mods and I am having the same issue. I followed the advice from puzzlezaddict, updated my graphics drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing is happening. I try to launch the game, screen goes white for a few moments, then crashes.

I can't get anyone to actually help me either. We have all spent way to much money for games that are constantly breaking and no customer service.

SimObsessions  Please update the driver for your graphics card.  You can get the newest one here:

Choose GeForce, 30 series, 3080, Windows 10, and download the newest Game Ready Driver.  Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Choose the Custom (not Express) install method, and check the box to perform a clean install.  Restart afterwards and before trying to play.

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled. If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.  If this doesn't help, repeat the test, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

If you get another crash, I'd like the same Reliability Monitor info; the text or the Error 2 screenshot is fine, whichever is easier to provide.  Please also let me know whether you've noticed any patterns to the crashes, for example when your sims travel to a certain lot or at a certain sim-time of day.

Spiderjesus101  Your dxdiag shows that Sims 4 is crashing because the AMD graphics driver is crashing.  So please tell the game to only use the Nvidia GPU.  Right-click the desktop, open the Nvidia Control Panel, select Manage 3D Settings > Global settings, and choose the high-performance Nvidia processor.  This will affect more than just Sims 4, so it's more a test than a fix.

If this does help, you can revert to auto-select under Global settings and choose the Nvidia GPU under Program settings, for TS4_x64 and TS4_Launcher_x64.  I've seen reports of this working and not, which is why it's best to try the global setting first.

By the way, is there a reason you're running your laptop screen at a much lower resolution than it supports?  2560x1600 is a lot prettier to look at than 1680x1050.  If the problem is the size of the icons or something else along those lines, you can increase the DPI scaling a bit more without sacrificing image clarity.  Here's how:

This also might help with the crashing—Sims 4 doesn't always respond well to unusual resolutions or scalings.  But the workaround for that, whether you want to change the settings or not, is to try playing in windowed mode.  It would also be my next suggestion if the above doesn't help.  Open Options.ini, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

Thank you so much for your detailed instructions, I truly appreciate everything you are doing to help me. I am new to a PC so there are a lot of things I don't know nor understand completely. 

I have attached a screenshot. Which one am I supposed to download? Is this even correct? If these two aren't correct, there are more options. Lol.

SimObsessions  You want the Game Ready Driver, not the Studio Driver, which is for professional workloads.  The drivers are similar but not the same, and while the Studio version should be compatible with games to some extent, it's not as effective.  Click View to see a download page.

In general, you always want the most recent driver IF you're updating or reinstalling the driver to fix a specific issue.  You don't need to update every time there's a new version or allow auto updates, and in fact that can increase the chances of something going wrong.  In general, I don't update unless it's been more than six months, or I want a new feature or to play a new game, or I notice a problem that might be caused by my current driver.  Other than that, it's best to keep using an already-working version.

I updated the driver, then I played it and it crashed. I also did a clean reboot tonight and again it crashed. Every time it crashes I am in build mode. Every time I have done something you have requested I have started a new save file, no mods or cc, and in a base game world. I load into create a sim, it never crashes in CAS. After I have a new sim, I load into a completely empty lot in Newcrest and begin to build. It crashes about 5-15 minutes every single time. I had a laptop and Sims 4 ran smoothly with my cc and mods. After switching to the PC it crashes constantly. I didn't know if it had to do with the update or this computer. Here is the Reliability Monitor info;
