[MOD/CC RELATED] Sims have a shattered/buggy face

Hi @bxbytrishx There's a good chance you have an unreported broken mod or CC item. Test without Mods complete: Exit Sims 4 then drag your Mods folder to your desktop. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you think you might accidentally forget to exit without saving after testing, copy your Saves folder to your desktop too, to back it up. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, you can start the process of figuring out what from your Mods folder was causing it.

Hi there!! I had the same problem in my game, turns out it's the Cien No EA eyelashes mod, I wanted to reply so you didnt spend hours and hours hunting down what mod it is like I did. Hope this helpped! 🙂

Current known causes:

• many (but not all) Toddler presets – causing distorted Toddler faces
• some Zerbu presets
• outdated No EA eyelashes – Cien – an update is availabe from adelar; updated by Cien in Jan. '24, but with shortlink clickthrough then ads
• No EA Eyelashes – Escaping Potplant (file name: epp-noEAeyelashesUPDATE)
• a file called Skin Details.package by an unknown creator
• SkinsMerged4HQ and SkinsMerged4 (unknown creator) - have Cien eyelashes merged in

Possible other causes:

• sliders

You are a SAINT... didn't even realize I had this mod but went and checked to be safe and sure enough... removed and issue is resolved.

I have lip presets for all ages (including infants) and since the recent patch, the lips look disformed and weird. This has never happened before until now. I don't know what to do. I'm currently working on trying to fix it but it is irritating. They look like this and worse. Please help.

You're going to need to 50-50 your Mods folder to find other culprits, unfortunately. You can start by confirming it is a mod, by dragging Mods to the desktop, deleting localthumbcache, and starting the game. (If you haven't done it for a really long time, you might even want to refresh the whole Sims folder instead: drag that to the desktop, start the game and reset your Options, and copy the contents of folder back into the new folders... but not Mods, as you want to test those.)

In case you've not done a 50-50 before:

A 50-50 involves organizing the files in Mods into bite-size batches (with any files they require, like XML Injector or a Core Library mod or mesh) and testing one batch at a time. For each test, delete the file called localthumbcache, then put only that batch in Mods. If your game behaves as you expect, set that batch aside as "cleared" and delete localthumbcache again. If it doesn't behave as you expect, take out half the batch and see if you're closer to finding the culprit. Remember to delete localthumbcache each time. You'll find some 50-50 method tutorials online too. Once you isolate the file, you can go find out if there's an updated version.

In your cases, start by testing anything involving skin, face, and body. Now and then, though, we see some really weird code affecting things it shouldn't, so you may need to test further. And please do let me know what you isolate it to!
