EA Account Linking led to a pretty big problem.

★★★ Newbie

So, I had a different EA account to the one I'm posting on currently. I decided I wanted my Playstation account to be linked to the same EA account as my Xbox account, so that I wouldn't have to sign into different accounts each time I needed to do something on the EA site.

So here's what I did:

  • I unlinked my other EA account from my PSN.
  • I then linked my PSN to this EA account.
  • Now Apex has retained my PS account's level in-game, but I can't access the loadout page, the store page, my coins/tokens/materials are all -9999 and I can't select any Legends, of which the game thinks I only have the default 5.

Please tell me there's a fix for this. Surely having a different EA account shouldn't be affecting my PS progress this way, and if it is, what can even be done? I literally can't play the game now.  I just spent £20+ on coins for the Season 17 pass so if it's lost forever I'm going to seriously consider sun-setting ever playing this game again. No other game service has led to a glitch like this when linking accounts.

Hey @Veelahs,

Your game progress is currently saved to the EA account where it was first earned, which is why that appears to have been largely lost after linking your PSN account to a different EA account.

I'm afraid the only way to restore this would be to re-link your PSN back to the original EA account where that progress was made. If you're unable to do this on your end or run into any issues, feel free to contact our support so they can assist.

The article below has some extra details in addition to what's mentioned when going through the unlinking process, and I've attached some relevant info below as well.

Unlink your platform accounts from your EA Account

When you unlink a platform account from your EA Account, you can link it to another EA Account, but your in-game progress will not transfer over.

That means you’ll permanently lose access to all of the following:

  • games and game progress
  • DLC, expansions, and anything extra you have for your game
  • memberships and subscriptions
  • in-game purchases.

If you unlink your platform account and link it back to your original EA Account, you may be able to get access to your stuff if you still can access the account.

Do you play Apex?

If you unlink a platform account that you use to play Apex Legends, you may have issues with Battle Pass leveling, item unlocks, and other errors.

Instead of unlinking and relinking a platform account you play Apex on, it may be better to start fresh on a new account.

Thanks, Mako. Just sent an email to EA support asking if it's possible for them to re-link my PSN to the previous EA account, crossing my fingers.

@EA_Mako Okay, well I only have 1 EA account, never changed the linking to my knowledge, and I have the same issue. Redownloaded this game after over a year of not playing, and now I have this stupid -9999 currency thing and my load out / store / barracks and whatnot are inaccessible. Support wants to delete my EA account. Really helpful.

I am experiencing the same thing currently. EA support relinked the original account and I am still experiencing this issue.
