Game gets to 99% installed and fails due to direct x. Direct x is up to date. my video card is up to date. My system far exceeds minumum requirments. I have deleted all temp files. My computer has been restarted. The game will not install since it is giving the error on an install (from what i can tell) that is not needed. I am running windows 8.

I did see a person encountering a similar issue during the Beta. Their reported fix was to so the following:
Step 1. Goto your Titanfall folder > _Installer > directx > redist. Remove all .cab files (delete them) while leaving the .dll and .exe files
Step 2. Copy your directx folder and place it in the __Installer folder (Or the main game directory).
Step 3. Install through Origin (If this doesn't work the first time repeat it at least 3 more times)

I can confirm that 'right-click / Repair' works.
Installed from PC-DVD ROMs in sealed package, delivered by UPS this morning from Amazon.
Got the DirectX error, found suggestion here, performed, and game is ready to Play.
System is:
Intel I5-4430
12GB RAM
WD Caviar HD
nVidia GTX 650Ti 2GB
Windows 8, all patches and updates applied. (not 8.1 !)

@ Eabarry
this didn't work. I tried it twice.

\Titanfall\__Installer\directx\redist
goto that folder and delete all the cab files, seems to have worked for me.
