I think Respawn needs to read this thread carefully and determine what the problem is, and if EA support people here could help spread the word that this is a serious issue, that would be fantastic. A patch would be dandy indeed.
There's enough information here pointing to it being a problem mainly under Windows 8.1 - I have the same issue after upgrading to 8.1 and I'm surprised there isn't more discussion about this. I love the game, played the hell out of it on Xbox One and then I got a PC and purchased the game + season pass only to be greeted with a black screen for no less than 3-4 minutes every time I launch the game (usually causing me to not bother playing the game... every so often I load it up and think to myself "why haven't I been playing Titanfall much?... oh, right, that's why" and then I quickly use Task Manager to shut it all down). Using a Radeon R9 280X card with the latest final driver release on AMD's site.
